#OOTD?

So I'm not even gonna lie about how long it took me to figure out what OOTD meant. Do you know? I'm sure you do but just in case you don't, it stands for Outfit Of The Day! Yes! Makes sense now, why people hash tag it when they post pics of their outfits right?! (Ha!)

Anyways, enough schooling. So if your wondering how I'm doing since my fall, I'm actually doing better then expected. Although I am still in pain, I can now walk and do stuff. The doctor said my back should heal itself and all I needed to do is physical therapy.  So happy no surgery was needed!

So back to the OOTD pics, I've decided to share daily outfits on my Instagram of pieces from my collections with some of my favorite pieces from other designers. I'll also be including make-up looks with these outfit post to gave ya'll an idea of how to wear your make-up with certain styles. If your not on Instagram, no worries! Every Friday I'll be posting them all on the blog, in what I'm calling Fashion Friday.   Here are last weeks OOTD post...

Well Lovelies, thanks for stopping by. Wishing you all a very blessed Thanksgiving. Hope you enjoy your family more then you enjoy shopping!

Xo.

Opportunity

Wow! It's been over a month since my last post.  I know I do this about 3 to 4 times a year, when I just fall of the face of the earth.  Whether it's family obligation or business, taking the time to write or record a video blog just falls of my completely  full plate sometimes.  I ask for your forgiveness, you faithful readers.  Although you all don't leave many comments, I know your out there and I appreciate your time. Now on to the good stuff!

Recently, I was given an amazing opportunity from the lovely people at SIMPLY STYLIST to "gift" their event with our At The Opera Earring for NYFW about a week ago.  Although I wasn't able to attend the actual event, it looked to have been a one of the MUST be at places for NYFW.

Yeah, that's Catt  Sadler from E!

It was truly fashion at it's best and I was so grateful to be apart of it even in the smallest form.  A big thank you goes out to Sarah Pollack Boyd, Jackie Chambers and the rest of the SIMPLY STYLIST team.

The NEW Accessory? Part 1 of 3 - Watches

So I know watches aren't really a "new" accessory but I do feel like they are becoming more and more popular when comes to fashion.  I've met ladies that have worn watches that don't even work anymore but love how they look with their outfits.  I personally have disliked wearing watches in the past, until recently when I received a lovely animal print watch from GUESS watches (featured above).

Packaging is big for me.  You can package a gumball machine ring in a bag like that, I'd probably buy it for more then it's worth.

So here are a couple of looks I have match up with some fun, trendy GUESS watches and looks for my SS12 collection.

 Tips - Accessorizing Watches

-It's ok to add bracelets and bangles to the same wrist. Sometimes an outfit calls for drama. Like look number one above.
-When wearing a watch that is dramatic or has a lot going on, like watch number two above, less is more.  Keep it a statement piece.
-It's ok to wear more then one watch on the same wrist when the watch is thin like the Wrap Watches above.
-It's ok to wear men's watches.  Sometimes you may have to get them taken in a bit but chunky metal is always fun when adding drama to an outfit.
-One watch does NOT go with everything.  Just because it's a basic silver watch doesn't mean it will work with all your outfits.
-Own at least 4 watches; one for your casual days, one for special occasions, one for work and one with lots of drama!

So next time your asked for the time, hopefully you won't be reaching for your cell phone but instead showing off your stylish watch and sense of fashion.

AND the WINNER is.....

Congratulations!

LAFW

What is LAFW?  Los Angeles Fashion Week .

So this past Saturday I attended a fashion show at Ace Gallery with a friend Tehelah Lisett, a fellow fashion lover.  It was my first time going to a fashion show I wasn't working in, showing in or associated with.  I felt kind of weird at first as I wondered the crowded white halls of Ace Gallery, while I waited to meet up with Telelah.  I never actually have a chance to take in the sites and energy of a fashion show/ event before.  I felt like I had a serious staring problem! (lol)  I was seriously lost in a sea of fashion.  Lots of hits and misses in style all around me.  Every time I saw an accessory or shoes I liked I wanted to say, "Love those", like I actually do when I'm out and about.  Only this time, there were to many all around me, I felt like I was in that scene from A Night At The Roxbury, where the dude is surround by good looking girls and he's trying to hit on all of them..."What's up.....What's up...what's up...what's up, what's up, what's up"

As a designer, I've been asked why would I attend another designer's fashion show.  Why not?  The energy is amazing, why not be surrounded by other people who love fashion as much as you do.  Plus, I do have friends who are fashion designer's themselves and love to attend their shows.

One of my favorite parts of attending LAFW events is catching up with friends and fellow bloggers.

Well...tomorrow is my big night for LAFW.  My Spring/ Summer 2012 collection will hit the runway with dance and color.  I look forward to seeing many of you there! And let's hope I don't fall when I walk the runway.  Yes! I dread this at EVERY show!

The Look Book Shop

Introducing The Look Book Shop to www.melissavelia.com.    So a couple of months ago, I decided to open a shop within my shop call The Look Book Shop.  Here you'll find all the lovely accessories and handbags (that are not from my label) that we use in our Look Books at amazing prices. The only catch would be that, there would only be one of each item.  What you see is what you get!  So once that item sells-out, it's gone.  So get'em while they're hot, Darlins!  Shop opens Feb. 25th at 12:00am!
