Cell Phone Blogging

Who needs a laptop when you've got an iPhone?! Ha! I can't believe I'm actually blogging from my cell phone right now. Yes, ladies and gents, I'm back (for the hundredth time) and this time I'm might just be blogging more then ever before, now that I can do it from my cell phone! (I might be a bit late on this) Never the less, I'm so impressed.

So lets get to the where and what from my world. Where have I been? Moving! Did it really take me 6 months to move? Yes! If my fashion world is not completely set up, I just can't get any work done at all. So as of this week, my little fashion world is all set up and ready to.....create! I have big plans for this Spring. Now that I'm back home in LA, I've got a whole new direction in this business adventure. Stay tuned for all the details, Darlins. For now, I just wanted to say Hello and try out this phone blogging thing. I shall be back tomorrow for some more chit-chat!

Mel

I'm Back

Hello Lovely Readers,

It's been awhile hasn't it?  Last month was simply crazy for me.  So much so, I had to put my whole world on hold, including my company because.....

...after much prayer, my husband and I decided to sell our home in Murrieta, CA and move back to L.A.  It was truly one of the most stressful things I've ever had to do.  I'm surprise I still have hair on my head! Although, I did gain ten stress pounds.  I would have never guessed that some people would negotiate so many petty things when buying a house, that I'm surprised they did ask to throw in one of my sons as part of the deal. In the end, we walked away with what we really wanted and a sense of adventure ahead.

After eight years of living in other cites, it felt good to be back home in LaLaLand, minus the traffic and some of the rude people (I'm just saying).  God Willing we will be buying our new home here at the end of this year but for now it will be apartment living.  Which means my work space/ studio/ office will be in a walk-in closet.  Yes you read right, I will be putting together my summer pieces and spring 2014 in that little box.  Lord only knows how I will pull this off but I'm going to try because a month of not designing, creating or working, just killed me.  I breath fashion.

So now you know where I've been the past month and what's to come from Melissa Velia.  I'm back to work today and I'm back in L.A. Cheers!!

The Thrill of The Hunt

As a child, did you ever dream about the day you'd own house?  I sure did. Little did I know, there was really no thrill to house hunting.

After 5 years of living from apartment to apartment, with family to friends, my husband and I had finally come to that pinnacle point.  It was time to buy. Only, it was all just bad timing for me. For I had to put together a 15 piece collection, while living out of boxes.  It was really a nightmare, having to move from here to there, work and house hunt all at the same time.  Never the less, God got me through it. It was one of the most stressful times in my life and I was completely blessed.

When I arrived on moving day and saw this sign, I was completely speechless.

Finally I had an office/ studio with the space I needed to continue to create and be inspired.

I soon realized as I looked around my office, how much stuff I really had.  I began saving things for my career since I was a kid.  I knew there were books, magazines and more "junk" that would inspire me some day.

Placing this Mother's Day gift from my sons on my window ledge, quickly made me feel at home.

A drawing of Lucille Ball that would grace my walls, is one of my favorites.  I still simply die laughing every time I watch I Love Lucy.  It never gets old.

As I look back on all of it today, it was all worth the sweat and tears.  I learned that in hard times, we must hold on to the good times. To record those great moments in a note book for when the next time life turns upside down, simply pick up your note book and remember not only the great moments in your life but remember, that this too shall pass and more great moments are to come!

xoxo,
Mel
